The invention provides a gas density relay with an online self-calibration function and a calibration method thereof, which are applied to high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical equipment. The gasdensity relay with the online self-calibration function comprises a gas density relay body, a gas density detection sensor, a normally-open valve, a normally-closed valve, an air chamber, an online calibration contact signal sampling unit and an intelligent control unit. Rise and fall of gas pressure are realized through the normally-open valve, the normally-closed valve and the air chamber, andthe gas density relay body is allowed to perform contact signal action; the contact signal action is transmitted to the intelligent control unit through the online calibration contact signal samplingunit; and the intelligent control unit detects an alarm and/or latching contact signal action value and/or a return value of the gas density relay body according to the density value obtained during the contact signal action, and calibration of the gas density relay can be completed without maintenance personnel going on site, thereby realizing maintenance-free, greatly improving reliability of apower grid, improving efficiency and reducing cost. Meanwhile, in the whole calibration process, zero emissions of gas, environmental protection, safety and economy are achieved.
