The invention discloses steel for a sulfur-resistant gas cylinder pipe. The steel is prepared from the chemical components in percentage by mass: 0.29%-0.31% of C, 0.20%-0.30% of Si, 0.80%-0.90% of Mn, 1.00%-1.10% of Cr, 0.25%-0.30% of Mo, 0.15%-0.20% of Ni, 0.025%-0.035% of Nb, 0.08%-0.10% of V, less than or equal to 0.015% of P, less than or equal to 0.002% of S, less than or equal to 0.015% ofP+S, less than or equal to 0.008% of As, less than or equal to 0.005% of Sn, less than or equal to 0.005% of Pb, less than or equal to 0.005% of Sb, less than or equal to 0.005% of Bi, less than or equal to 0.00015% of [H], less than or equal to 0.0015% of [O], less than or equal to 0.0050% of [N] and the balance of Fe. Through the components, it can be known that according to the steel for the sulfur-resistant gas cylinder pipe, alloying is conducted through the conventional alloy elements of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Mo and the like, micro alloying is conducted by adding the small amount of V, Ni and Nb, and thus the steel has higher toughness than that of 30CrMo in the standard of the national 'large-volume steel seamless gas cylinder' (GB/T 33145-2016).
