90 results about "Primary production" patented technology

In ecology, primary production is the synthesis of organic compounds from atmospheric or aqueous carbon dioxide. It principally occurs through the process of photosynthesis, which uses light as its source of energy, but it also occurs through chemosynthesis, which uses the oxidation or reduction of inorganic chemical compounds as its source of energy. Almost all life on Earth relies directly or indirectly on primary production. The organisms responsible for primary production are known as primary producers or autotrophs, and form the base of the food chain. In terrestrial ecoregions, these are mainly plants, while in aquatic ecoregions algae predominate in this role. Ecologists distinguish primary production as either net or gross, the former accounting for losses to processes such as cellular respiration, the latter not.

System and method for carbon dioxide capture and sequestration

A method and a system capable of removing carbon dioxide directly from ambient air, and obtaining relatively pure CO2. The method comprises the steps of generating usable and process heat from a primary production process;
    • applying the process heat from said primary process to water to co-generate substantially saturated steam, alternately repeatedly exposing a sorbent to removal and to capture and regeneration system phases, wherein said sorbent is alternately exposed to a flow of ambient air during said removal phase, thereby enabling said sorbent to sorb, and therefore remove, carbon dioxide from said ambient air, and to a flow of the co-generated steam during the regeneration and capture phase, after the sorbent has adsorbed the carbon dioxide, thereby enabling regeneration of such sorbent, and the resultant capture in relatively pure form of the adsorbed carbon dioxide. This process can also be carried out in more efficient form by admixing with the air a minor amount of a flue gas or an effluent gas containing a higher concentration of carbon dioxide than exists in the atmosphere, most preferably following a pre-treatment. The carbon dioxide can be stored for further use, or sequestered permanently following the capture: The adsorbent is exposed to air at substantially ambient conditions and the adsorbent is exposed to the co-generated steam at a temperature in the range of not greater than about 130° C. The system provides the sorbent substrate and equipment for carrying out the above method, and provides for obtaining purified carbon dioxide for further use in agriculture and chemical processes, including manufacturing hydrocarbon fuels, or for permanent sequestration, as needed.

Ecosystem model and biomanipulation technology based eutrophic water body remediation method

The invention discloses an ecosystem model and biomanipulation technology based eutrophic water body remediation method. Firstly, an ECOPATH model is used to fit the energy flowing mode of the currentecosystem, when the annual production of phytoplankton or aquatic macrophyte in a water body is too high, the minimum primary production requiring for maintaining the operation of the system is takenas the baseline according to the output result of the model, the consumption of the extra primary production in the system is increased through the predation action of fish by using a method of quantitatively adding a fish consumer, and meanwhile, the top-down effect is produced to control the biomass and the community structure of a primary producer. After finishing remediation, the ECOPATH model is used to access the fish catch, the commercial fish species added in the same year are harvested according to the assessment result, so that the balance of energy of the ecosystem is maintained, the fishing catch directly takes away a large quantity of nutritive salts in the water body, and certain economic value is produced. The novel thinking for reference and the technical support are provided for the remediation method taking the scientific experiment as the method from the perspectives of ecology, quantity and energetics, and the method has a very important application value for the ecological remediation of the damaged water body.

Waste gas-dust separator for cement kiln head and waste gas-dust separation method thereof

The invention discloses a waste gas-dust separator for a cement kiln head. The separator has a cavity structure, an air inlet and an air outlet of the separator are formed on a shell at the top end of the separator, a partition plate is arranged inside the separator, and the partition plate is arranged between the air inlet and the air outlet of the separator and is extended downwards to partition the cavity of the separator into an air inlet gravity settling chamber and an air outlet gravity settling chamber; and a through cavity is formed between the lower part of the partition plate and the shell of the separator so as to form a baffling gravity settling chamber. The invention also discloses a waste gas-dust separation method adopted by the separator. Due to the adoption of the technical scheme, the separation efficiency is improved to 70 percent compared with that of the traditional settling chamber, a rise of about 30 percent, so the separation efficiency is high; and the increased resistance of the system is low, an exhaust fan of the kiln head of the primary production line does not need to be reformed, the service life of a heat exchange surface of a waste heat utilization boiler reaches 2 years, and good social and economic benefits are obtained.

Axial-flow underwater three-stage separation method and control system thereof

The invention provides an axial-flow underwater three-stage separation method and a control system thereof which are used for underwater direct separation of undersea oil well produced fluids. According to the axial-flow three-stage oil-water separation technique and control system thereof, a crude oil and production sewage treatment facility in the underwater separation system is transferred to the underwater system from the offshore platform, thereby simplifying the oil-gas gathering and transportation process and the production sewage treatment process, lowering the operation energy consumption in the process, and finally implementing oil-water high-efficiency separation. The primary oil-gas-water separation treatment separates out most water in the oil gas, the secondary axial-flow quick separation treatment removes most oil phases in the primary production sewage, and the tertiary axial-flow deep separation treatment removes the residual oil phase in the secondary production sewage. The underwater transfer system is used for pressurizing the oil fluids in all stages by the underwater transfer pump and directly transferring the oil fluids out; and the separation control system automatically controls the underwater separation operations in all stages and regulates the flow rates of the oil well produced fluid and live crude, and ensures the transient flow pressures of the pressurized oil fluids in all stages to be consistent all the time.
