Method and apparatus for the modeling and synthesis of harmonic distortion

Distortion modeling produces distortion models for use by a distortion synthesizer to synthesize the harmonic distortion effects of audio distortion devices. A sinusoidal waveform is distorted by an audio distortion device and analyzed using a Fourier transform to produce a distortion model comprising harmonic amplitude and phase parameters. A phase correction process compensates for phase shifts induced by the audio distortion device. The distortion synthesizer uses a distortion function that distorts a digital audio signal according to the distortion model. The distortion model can be modified to alter the distortion effect and can be stored in a data-storage device for later retrieval. A frequency bandsplitter and signal mixer allow the distortion effect to be applied only to the low frequency content of the digital audio signal, thus providing spectral headroom to suppress the production of aliasing noise. Aliasing-noise suppression is provided for a full-bandwidth signal by up-converting the sampling rate of the signal before applying the distortion function and down-converting the sampling rate afterwards. A process is provided to remove the direct-current component that may be induced into the signal by the distortion function.

Golf putter with multiple striking-surfaces, reversible face plate

InactiveUS7341527B1Easy to reverseIncrease moment of inertiaGolf clubsRacket sportsEngineeringSurface plate
A golf putter including a head which has detachably fastened to the body thereof a face plate provided with a plurality of striking surfaces which are selectably and interchangeably oriented by a player to a forward facing use position, the striking surfaces each having different ball-impacting characteristics, e.g., rebound factor, hardness, and/or frictional characteristics. In one embodiment, the face plate has flat front and rear parallel surfaces in which are fitted inserts with different ball-impacting characteristics, the face plate being attachable conformally to the front face of a putter head body with a selected insert in a forward-facing use position by a pair of screws inserted through holes in the face plate in opposite sides of the inserts and tightened into a pair of aligned threaded bores which extend perpendicular into the front face of the putter head body. In another embodiment, the face plate fits conformally into a recess provided in the front face of a putter head body, the recess being of sufficient depth to hold a single, double insert plate, or deeper to accommodate a pair of thin, rectangular cross-section double-insert face plates, or a square cross-section, quadruple-insert face plate in which two pairs of inserts are mounted in four lateral faces of the face plate.

Venetian blind

The invention relates to slats (1) for a venetian blind comprising slats of very large dimensions, both relating to the width of the slats and to the longitudinal extension of the slats (1). Thus the venetian blind comprising these slats can be made to cover very large window openings or other parts of buildings and rooms. The slats (1) are provided with longitudinal edge portions (3) serving the dual purpose of increasing the overall rigidity of the slats (1) and of providing attachment means (12) for support cords of the slats (1). The slats are operated by pairs (typically two) of lift and tilt cords running in parallel along the longitudinal edges of the slats (1), thereby avoiding passages through the slats (1), which is advantageous both from an aestetical point of view and from the point of view of the necessary production technique for the slats (1). The invention also relates to releasable attachment means (12) for connection the slats (1) to the tilt cords of the venetian blind. The Invention furthermore relates to the venetian blind as such comprising the above slats (1) and attachment means (12), and due to these is becomes possible to assemble the complete venetian blind in situ in a very easy manner. Also the removal and replacement of individual slats (1) without the necessity to dismantle major portions of the venetian blind is greatly facilitated according to the invention. Finally the invention also relates to a lift- and tilt mechanism for controlling tilting and raising / lowering of the slats (1).
