This invention discloses a control method and device for a cooling system of a pure electric vehicle. The method involves determining whether the electronic expansion valve of the passenger compartment and the electronic expansion valve of the battery are malfunctioning. If both electronic expansion valves are functioning correctly, the method determines whether the electric vehicle is in fast charging mode or normal driving discharge mode. If so, it determines whether the air conditioning is on. If on, the method compares the current battery temperature with different set temperature ranges to find the corresponding range's requested battery water pump speed. It also compares the current passenger compartment air conditioning set temperature with different set temperature ranges to find the corresponding range's requested motor water pump speed. Based on the requested battery water pump speed and the requested motor water pump speed, the method determines the compressor speed. Finally, it uses the ratio of the requested motor water pump speed to the compressor speed to determine the opening degree of the passenger compartment's electronic expansion valve and the ratio of the requested battery water pump speed to the compressor speed to determine the opening degree of the battery's electronic expansion valve.
