The method comprises the following steps of: firstly, carrying out filtering treatment on the amplified depth map by utilizing a bilateral filter; carrying out image gradient computation on the original image and the amplified depth map and judging whether important differences exist between the depth map and the original image; then selecting the bilateral filter or a trilateral filter to carry out optimization treatment on the amplified depth map according to a judging result and generating a depth map with high quality; and finally, generating a 3D stereo image by utilizing a depth-based image rendering algorithm. According to the method, on the premise of ensuring the quality of the depth map, the speed of generating the depth map can be quickened. The method can be used for making the 3D video work with high quality and low cost and at high speed.
