Lithiation is performed by reacting the electrode active material (41, 42) with an organolithium compound of formula Li-R, wherein R is selected from the group consisting of: a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, preferably saturated, aliphatic or heteroaliphatic hydrocarbongroup having 5 to 12 carbon atoms, which can include at least one heteroatom selected from Si, S, N, and O; a cycloaliphatic or heterocycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group having 5 to 12 carbon atoms, which can include at least one heteroatom selected from Si, S, N, and O; and an aromatic or heteroaromatic hydrocarbon group having 5 to 9 carbon atoms, which can include at least one heteroatom selectedfrom Si, S, N, and O.
