The triboelectric effect (also known as triboelectric charging) is a type of contact electrification on which certain materials become electrically charged after they are separated from a different material with which they were in contact. Rubbing the two materials each with the other increases the contact between their surfaces, and hence the triboelectric effect. Rubbing glass with fur for example, or a plastic comb through the hair, can build up triboelectricity. Most everyday static electricity is triboelectric. The polarity and strength of the charges produced differ according to the materials, surface roughness, temperature, strain, and other properties.

The present invention provides an inexpensive security sensor cable, a method for manufacturing of same and an overall security system for using that sensor cable. The sensor cable consists of a central conductor, an air separator, a polyethylene dielectric tube, an outer conductor and an outer protective jacket. The central conductor is loosely centered in the coaxial cable and thus freely movable relative to the dielectric tube. The sensor cable has application either in a passive sensing system or in an active ranging sensing system to determine the location of an intrusion along the cable. For the passive sensing function, when the center conductor moves, it contacts a suitable dielectric material from the triboelectric series, such as polyethylene, which can be processed to produce a charge transfer by triboelectric effect that is measurable as a terminal voltage. In an active system, the central conductor moves within the dielectric in response to a vibration to provide an impedance change that can be sensed. Conventional radio grade cable may be modified in its construction by removing its dielectric thread to manufacture the sensor cable, thus enabling the center conductor to move freely in the air gap within the dielectric tube. An inexpensive method of manufacturing sensor cable is provided as the cable parts are readily available. Such a sensor cable is advantageous in that the passive triboelectric properties of the cable, in response to a disturbance, can provide a larger voltage response over prior art cables.

According to the invention, the temperature and pressure integrated sensing is realized, the temperature and pressure integrated sensor has the advantages of low cost, simple structure, safety, environmental protection, no need of an external power supply for energy supply and the like, a measurement signal is not affected by the ambient air pressure, the resolution is high, and remote real-time transmission can be realized.

Apparatus and method for reducing electrical noise in a thermally controlled chuck

A system and method for controlling temperature of a workpiece such as a semiconductor wafer and the chuck supporting the wafer are described. The system includes a heat exchanger used in controlling temperature of a temperature control fluid. A first fluid carrying path carries the temperature control fluid from the heat exchanger to an outlet, the outlet being connectable to the workpiece chuck to carry the temperature control fluid to the workpiece chuck. A second fluid carrying path carries the temperature control fluid from an inlet to the heat exchanger, the inlet being connectable to the workpiece chuck to carry the temperature control fluid from the workpiece chuck to the temperature control system. A dual-flow rate technique is employed such that, when the chuck temperature is in transition, the temperature control fluid is circulated at a relatively high flow rate such that temperature transition of the chuck can be realized at a fast rate. When the temperature of the chuck is being maintained at a set point temperature, the flow rate of the fluid can be reduced such that electrical noise introduced by the motion of the fluid, such as by the triboelectric effect, can be reduced. A capillary tube can be connected between the first fluid carrying path and the second fluid carrying path. First and second valves can be connected in the first and second fluid carrying paths to prevent the flow of fluid into the chuck when the chuck is at high temperature such that motion induced by flash boiling of the fluid is eliminated.

Triboelectric X-ray source

An x-ray source for generating x-rays with at least one narrow energy band includes an enclosing vessel, a first contact arranged with a first contact surface in the enclosing vessel, a second contact arranged with a second contact surface in the enclosing vessel, and an actuator assembly operatively connected to at least one of the first and second contacts. The actuator assembly is structured to cause the first contact surface and the second contact surface to repeatedly come into contact, and separate after making contact, while in operation. The first contact surface is a surface of a first triboelectric material and the second contact surface is a surface of a second triboelectric material, the surface of the first triboelectric material having a negative triboelectric potential relative to the surface of the second triboelectric material. The second contact includes a material that includes an atomic element in its composition that has an excited quantum energy state that can be excited by electrons traveling from the first contact surface to the second contact surface such that the atomic element emits x-rays having an energy within the at least one narrow energy band upon transition from the excited state into a lower energy state. The enclosing vessel is structured to provide control of an atmospheric environment to which the first and second contact surfaces are exposed.

The invention discloses a breathable and stretchable nanofiber composite thin film material for a friction nano-generator and a preparation method of the breathable and stretchable nanofiber composite thin film material. The material is formed by blending nanofibers and elastomer microspheres through electrostatic spinning, wherein the nanofibers are polyvinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene copolymer (PVDF-HFP), and the elastomer microspheres are styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene block copolymer. The preparation method comprises the following steps of (1) dissolving a nanofiber precursor into a solution A for electrostatic spinning; (2) dissolving the elastomer microspheres into a solution B for electrostatic spinning; and (3) spinning the nanofibers and the elastomer microspheres synchronously by adopting a conjugate electrostatic spinning processing technology to obtain a nanofiber composite thin film. The nanofiber composite thin film material prepared by the invention has the advantages of adjustable thickness, air permeability, waterproofness and stretchability, has a good triboelectrification effect, is simple in preparation method and suitable for industrial production, and can be applied to the breathable and stretchable wearable friction nano-generator.
