Novel function of N-acetylchitobiose and application of N-acetylchitobiose in health care food

The present invention concerns a novel function of N-acetylchitobiose and an application of N-acetylchitobiose in health care food. The N-acetylchitobiose is a degradation product of chitin, and is an oligosaccharide which is formed by the binding of two N-acetylglucosamine molecules through a glucosidic bond. Animal tests indicate that the N-acetylchitobiose has obvious inhibiting activity on alpha-glucosidase, and the IC50 of the N-acetylchitobiose is 2.0 mg / ml. The N-acetylchitobiose can significantly reduce the fasting glucose levels of mice with type II diabetes to a minimum value of 6.1 mg / ml. The minimum value of 6.1 mg / ml is significantly lower than the fasting glucose value of 7.9 mg / ml in an acarbose control group, and is close to the upper limit of a fasting blood glucose range in normal healthy mice. Secondly, compared to acarbose, the N-acetylchitobiose can significantly reduce serum blood lipid contents and inhibit the levels of lipid-peroxidation in pancreas. In addition, the N-acetylchitobiose can stabilize the weight of diabetic mice. The combination of the N-acetylchitobiose and xylo-oligosaccharide has obvious hypoglycemic effects as well. The N-acetylchitobiose provided by the invention has good hypoglycemic effects, and can be employed to develop safe and effective health care food which prevents and improves type II diabetes.

Functionsof the narrow-range chitosan oligosaccharide for preventing the hyperglycemia manifest as a reduction of fasting blood glucose. At the same time, the narrow-range chitosan oligosaccharide also improves oral glucose resistance and insulin resistance induced by the high-fat diet, increases insulin secretion and insulin sensitivity, reduces insulin resistance indexes, alleviates liver tissue fatty degeneration, and restores pancreatic tissue structures.
