Low dose single step grating based X-ray phase contrast imaging

Phase sensitive X-ray imaging methods can provide substantially increased contrast over conventional absorption based imaging, and therefore new and otherwise inaccessible information. The use of gratings as optical elements in hard X-ray phase imaging overcomes some of the problems that have impaired the wider use of phase contrast in X-ray radiography and tomography. So far, to separate the phase information from other contributions detected with a grating interferometer, a phase-stepping approach has been considered, which implies the acquisition of multiple radiographic projections. Here,an innovative, highly sensitive X-ray tomographic phase contrast imaging approach is presented based on grating interferometry, which extracts the phase contrast signal without the need of phase stepping. Compared to the existing phase step approach, the main advantage of this new method dubbed 'reverse projection' is the significantly reduced delivered dose, without degradation of the image quality. The new technique sets the pre-requisites for future fast and low dose phase contrast imaging methods, fundamental for imaging biological specimens and in-vivo studies.

Presented herein are systems and methods directed to a multispectral absorption-based imaging approach that provides for rapid and accurate detection, localization, and quantification of gas leaks. The imaging technology described herein utilizes a scanning optical sensor in combination with structured and scannable illumination to detect and image spectral signatures produced by absorption of light by leaking gas in a quantitative manner over wide areas, at distance, and in the presence of background such as ambient gas and vapor. Moreover, the specifically structured and scannable illumination source of the systems and methods described herein provides a consistent source of illumination for the scanning optical sensor, allowing imaging to be performed even in the absence of sufficient natural light, such as sunlight. The objective of the present invention is to provide a method and instrument for measuring glucose concentration in blood using infrared spectroscopy. Glucose concentration in blood is measured based on an integrated value obtained by measuring an absorption spectrum that includes the wavelength range of 1020-1040 cm−1, and by integrating the intensity of absorption of the wavelength range of 1020-1040 cm−1 within the absorption spectrum. Alternatively, a glucose concentration in blood is measured based on an integrated value through measuring an absorption spectrum including the wavelength range of 1010-1050 cm−1; obtaining a second-derivative spectrum by calculating a second derivative of the absorption spectrum that includes the wavelength range of 1010-1050 cm−1 in the absorption spectrum; determining an integration range based on the second derivative spectrum; and then obtaining the integrated value by integrating the intensity of absorption based on this determined integration range.

The invention achieves the full automation of measuring the thick, thin aggregate apparent relative density, bulk volume relative density and water absorption; unifies the original measure method of thick, thin two different size aggregate. Effectively eliminates the subjectivity of manual testing method, renders the test better accuracy and repeatability; greatly reduces the time of test and manual intervention.
