928 results about "High ratio" patented technology

A high ratio loan is a loan whereby the loan value is high relative to the property value being used as collateral. Mortgage loans that have high loan ratios have a loan value that approaches 100% of the value of the property. A high ratio loan might be approved for a borrower who is unable to put down a large downpayment.

Gapfill improvement with low etch rate dielectric liners

A method of filling a trench is described and includes depositing a dielectric liner with a high ratio of silicon oxide to dielectric liner etch rate in fluorine-containing etch chemistries. Silicon oxide is deposited within the trench and etched to reopen or widen a gap near the top of the trench. The dielectric liner protects the underlying substrate during the etch process so the gap can be made wider. Silicon oxide is deposited within the trench again to substantially fill the trench.

Write head for improved manufacturability larger write field and reduced adjacent track erasure

A magnetic write head provides a significant write field and minimal adjacent track erasure, and lends itself to improved manufacturability. The write head includes a pedestal throat height that defines a bottom pole, P1, and that is substantially recessed from the air bearing surface. The write head further includes a top pole, P2, that defines a nose that is closer to the air bearing surface than the pedestal zero throat. This design achieves a relatively high ratio of the off-track to on-track field. As an example, a 1:4 ratio could be achieved to significantly mitigate the erasure problem of the adjacent tracks resulting from magnetic flux saturation.

Devices with adjustable dual-polarity trigger- and holding-voltage/current for high level of electrostatic discharge protection in sub-micron mixed signal CMOS/BiCMOS integrated circuits

Symmetrical / asymmetrical bidirectional S-shaped I-V characteristics with trigger voltages ranging from 10 V to over 40 V and relatively high holding current are obtained for advanced sub-micron silicided CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) / BiCMOS (Bipolar CMOS) technologies by custom implementation of P1-N2-P2-N1 / / N1-P3-N3-P1 lateral structures with embedded ballast resistance 58, 58A, 56, 56A and periphery guard-ring isolation 88-86. The bidirectional protection devices render a high level of electrostatic discharge (ESD) immunity for advanced CMOS / BiCMOS processes with no latchup problems. Novel design-adapted multifinger 354 / interdigitated 336 layout schemes of the ESD protection cells allow for scaling-up the ESD performance of the protection structure and custom integration, while the I-V characteristics 480 are adjustable to the operating conditions of the integrated circuit (IC). The ESD protection cells are tested using the TLP (Transmission Line Pulse) technique, and ESD standards including HBM (Human Body Model), MM (Machine Model), and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) IEC 1000-4-2 standard for ESD immunity. ESD protection performance is demonstrated also at high temperature (140° C.). The unique high ratio of dual-polarity ESD protection level per unit area, allows for integration of fast-response and compact protection cells optimized for the current tendency of the semiconductor industry toward low cost and high density-oriented IC design. Symmetric / asymmetric dual polarity ESD protection performance is demonstrated for over 15 kV HBM, 2 kV MM, and 16.5 kV IEC for sub-micron technology.

Thermoplastic monofilament fibers exhibiting low-shrink, high tenacity, and extremely high modulus levels

Unique thermoplastic monofilament fibers and yarns that exhibit heretofore unattained physical properties are provided. Such fibers are basically manufactured through the extrusion of thermoplastic resins that include a certain class of nucleating agent therein, and are able to be drawn at high ratios with such nucleating agents present that the tenacity and modulus strength are much higher than any other previously produced thermoplastic fibers, particularly those that also simultaneously exhibit extremely low shrinkage rates. Thus, such fibers require the presence of certain compounds that quickly and effectively provide rigidity to the target thermoplastic (for example, polypropylene), particularly after heat-setting. Generally, these compounds include any structure that nucleates polymer crystals within the target thermoplastic after exposure to sufficient heat to melt the initial pelletized polymer and allowing such an oriented polymer to cool. The compounds must nucleate polymer crystals at a higher temperature than the target thermoplastic without the nucleating agent during cooling. In such a manner, the "rigidifying" nucleator compounds provide nucleation sites for thermoplastic crystal growth. The preferred "rigidifying" compounds include dibenzylidene sorbitol based compounds, as well as less preferred compounds, such as [2.2.1]heptane-bicyclodicarboxylic acid, otherwise known as HPN-68, sodium benzoate, certain sodium and lithium phosphate salts [such as sodium 2,2'-methylene-bis-(4,6-di-tert-butylphenyl)phosphate, otherwise known as NA-11]. Specific methods of manufacture of such inventive thermoplastic fibers, as well as fabric articles made therefrom, are also encompassed within this invention.

Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells

A method for preparing polybenzimidazole or polybenzimidazole blend membranes and fabricating gas diffusion electrodes and membrane-electrode assemblies is provided for a high temperature polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell. Blend polymer electrolyte membranes based on PBI and various thermoplastc polymers for high temperature polymer electrolyte fuel cells have also been developed. Miscible blends are used for solution casting of polymer membranes (solid electrolytes). High conductivity and enhanced mechanical strength were obtained for the blend polymer solid electrolytes. With the thermally resistant polymer, e.g., polybenzimidazole or a mixture of polybenzimidazole and other thermoplastics as binder, the carbon-supported noble metal catalyst is tape-cast onto a hydrophobic supporting substrate. When doped with an acid mixture, electrodes are assembled with an acid doped solid electrolyte membrane by hot-press. The fuel cell can operate at temperatures up to at least 200° C. with hydrogen-rich fuel containing high ratios of carbon monoxide such as 3 vol % carbon monoxide or more, compared to the carbon monoxide tolerance of 10-20 ppm level for Nafion®-based polymer electrolyte fuel cells.

Graphics system configured to interpolate pixel values

A method and computer graphics system capable of super-sampling and performing real-time convolution are disclosed. In one embodiment, the computer graphics system may comprise a graphics processor, a sample buffer, and a sample-to-pixel calculation unit. The graphics processor may be configured to generate a plurality of samples. The sample buffer, which is coupled to the graphics processor, may be configured to store the samples. The sample-to-pixel calculation unit is programmable to generate a first subset of pixels by filtering using the rendered samples and a second subset of the output pixels by interpolating using the first subset of pixels and / or the rendered samples. By interpolating a subset of the output pixels, the graphics system may be able to operate at higher resolutions and / or refresh rates since filtering of the samples is computationally intensive. Any ratio of the number of first subset of pixels to the number of the second subset of pixels may be used, and furthermore, a different ratio may be used for different regions of the display screen. A higher ratio of the number of first subset of pixels to the number of second subset of pixels may be used for regions of the screen where a higher quality image is desired and a lower ration may be used for regions where a lower quality image may be sufficient. For example, a higher quality image may be desired close to and around the foveation point where the eye of an observer is focused.

The present invention relates to a bat with improved playing characteristics. Although the present invention will be described generally, the present invention can be employed with softball, baseball and other types of game bats. Specifically, the present invention relates to a bat with a moment of inertia to weight ratio that is higher then conventional bats. This improved ratio is achieved by producing a bat that is lighter than conventional bats without altering the bat's moment of inertia. The higher ratio of the present invention allows for faster swing speeds with no loss in power. These improved playing characteristics can be achieved in either an aluminum or a composite bat.
