Morchella esculenta, (commonly known as common morel, morel, yellow morel, true morel, morel mushroom, and sponge morel) is a species of fungus in the Morchellaceae family of the Ascomycota. It is one of the most readily recognized of all the edible mushrooms and highly sought after. Each fruit body begins as a tightly compressed, grayish sponge with lighter ridges, and expands to form a large yellowish sponge with large pits and ridges raised on a large white stem. The pitted yellow-brown caps measure 2–7 cm (0.8–2.8 in) broad by 2–10 cm (0.8–3.9 in) tall, and are fused to the stem at its lower margin, forming a continuous hollow. The pits are rounded and irregularly arranged. The hollow stem is typically 2–9 cm (0.8–3.5 in) long by 2–5 cm (0.8–2.0 in) thick, and white to yellow. The fungus fruits under hardwoods during a short period in the spring, depending on the weather, but it is also associated with old orchards, woods, disturbed grounds and burnt areas. Although a process was reported in 1982 to grow the fruit bodies under controlled conditions, attempts to cultivate the mushroom commercially have only been partially successful.

Artificial cultivation method of morchella in windy and sandy areas

An artificial cultivation method of morchella in windy and sandy areas includes following steps: step 1, sequentially preparing mother seeds, raw seeds and cultivation seeds; step 2, building a sunlight greenhouse and a greenhouse for cultivation; step 3, preparing a land: combining with land ploughing before sowing, applying a rotten matrix, and dividing ridge areas; step 4, sowing: uniformly scattering the cultivation seeds to space behind ridge faces, furrowing along lines, and earthing; step 5, performing field management; step 6, harvesting: timely harvesting when cap veins are observed clearly to obtain mature morchella. Relying on resources of wild morchella in the windy and sandy areas of the North, through methods of tissue separation, spore culture or hybridization integration, a strain suitable for local growth is cultivated and domesticated after strict screening and fruiting experiment; according to a scientific formula, a mode of three-stage seed preparation is adopted, facilities like the sunlight greenhouse and the plastic greenhouse are utilized to increase shade and a micro spray irrigation system, and morchella is obtained by cultivation by artificially controlling environment conditions like temperature, humidity, illumination and ventilation, so that a technical gap is filled in.

Method for cultivating medicinal morel and products produced thereby

The invention relates to a cultivation method for medicinal common morel and a product thereof. A common morel fruiting body is selected for cultivating a mycelium on a culture medium. Four culture medium solid materials and spinach juice aqueous solution are mixed into a pasty state and then are prepared into the culture medium after sterilization. The common morel fruiting body is selected to inoculate on the culture medium and is cultivated at 23+-2 DEG C for 15 to 20 days to obtain the common morel mycelium for standby. Then the mixed paste of the culture medium and Chinese traditional medicine powder are evenly mixed in the weight ratio of 1:2.0 to 1:2.5; the common morel mycelium is planted into the culture medium after sterilization; fermentation cultivation is carried out at 23+-2 DEG C for 30 to 60 days; and the medicinal common morel powder is obtained after drying and crushing. The invention can effectively improve the function of the common morel mycelium, and improve the bioactivity of the medicinal common morel. The product has the health care functions of strengthening the human body immunity, and resisting cancers and ageing, and has the functions of tonifying the kidney and strengthening yang, enriching the blood and giving a lift, preventing and treating rheumatalgia and dyspepsia, and invigorating the spleen and tonifying the kidney.
