The present invention relates to a substrate having antimicrobial and/or antistatic properties. Such properties are imparted by applying a coating or film formed from a cationically-charged polymer composition. The polymer composition includes a noncationic ethylenically unsaturated monomer, an ethylenically unsaturated monomer capable of providing a cationic charge to the polymer composition, and a steric stabilization component incorporated into the cationically-charged polymer composition. The present invention also relates to a polymeric material comprising a base polymer blended with the above cationically-charged polymer composition.

In addition, the bump does not contact lines adjacent to the electrode terminal of the PCB, thereby preventing a mis-operation of the semiconductor package. Accordingly, the pitch between the electrode pads of the semiconductor chip and the pitch between the bumps can be minimized.

The invention relates to a method for manufacturing paper, paperboard or cardboard comprising the steps of

A disposable paper towel with an anti-microbial lotion and is provided with a chromatic transfer indicator which undergoes a delayed, visually perceptible color change at a predetermined time after the towel is wetted. A mold resistant gypsum panel having improved mold- and fungal-resistance to the gypsum panel facing paper is provided. The present invention provides a porous paper product impregnated with at least one chemical species. The porous paper product can be in the form of sheets, or compressed pellets. The porous paper can be prepared from a variety of sources, including wood pulp, kenaf, flax, or hemp. A method of forming a water soluble biocidal film on a solid household, food preparation, or medical surface, which protects the solid surface against reinfection by microorganisms, includes providing a liquid biocidal composition comprised of, based on total weight of the liquid biocidal composition from 0.1 to 5.0 wt. % of a phenolic biocide; from an amount effective to impart film-forming properties to the liquid biocidal composition up to 8 wt. % of a polyvinyl pyrrolidone polymer or copolymer; and an aqueous alcoholic solvent in which the phenolic biocide and the polyvinylpyrrolidone polymer or copolymer are dissolved; treating the solid surface with the liquid biocidal composition; and evaporating the aqueous alcoholic solvent to provide a clear film, wherein a ratio of the phenolic biocide to the polyvinylpyrrolidone polymer or copolymer is selected to range from 1:0.8 to 1:3 so that a complex there between is provided which dries clear.

The present invention is directed to a method of efficiently maintaining or increasing brightness and whiteness of refined paper. In one aspect, the invention is directed to a method for substantially maintaining (or even increasing) brightness and/or whiteness of paper with increased pulp refining, the method including refining the pulp down to reduce the freeness at least about 100 CSF and adding a combination of an OBA and a carrier polymer to the paper surface in the size press in amounts sufficient to increase brightness and/or whiteness of the final paper. In another aspect, the invention is directed to a method of making paper from refined pulp that includes refining a cellulosic fiber suspension to reduce the freeness at least about 100 CSF and contacting the cellulosic fibers with at least one optical brightening agent (OBA) during or after the refining step prior to adding any additional wet end chemicals.

An oil-in-water emulsion useful as a defoamer for pulp and paper mill applications is described. The defoamer has an oil blend (of a triglyceride oil or a mixture of triglyceride oils and silicone), a stabilizing agent (to make the oil blend stable in the emulsion), hydrophobic silica particles, surfactants, dispersants, and other components. The emulsion is usable directly at low concentrations to control foam.
