A semiconductor-on-insulator structure and a method of forming the silicon-on-insulator structure including an integrated graphene layer are disclosed. In an embodiment, the method comprises processing a silicon material to form a buried oxide layer within the silicon material, a silicon substrate below the buried oxide, and a silicon-on-insulator layer on the buried oxide. A graphene layer is transferred onto the silicon-on-insulator layer. Source and drain regions are formed in the silicon-on-insulator layer, and a gate is formed above the graphene. In one embodiment, the processing includes growing a respective oxide layer on each of first and second silicon sections, and joining these silicon sections together via the oxide layers to form the silicon material. The processing, in an embodiment, further includes removing a portion of the first silicon section, leaving a residual silicon layer on the bonded oxide, and the graphene layer is positioned on this residual silicon layer.

The present invention is an integral composite structural (ICS) material comprising an open metal structure having at least one external side and internal surfaces defining a plurality of open shapes with a ceramic matrix composite bonded to at least one external side and the surfaces of at least a substantial portion of the plurality of open shapes and occupying at least a substantial portion of the plurality of open shapes. The open metal structure, independent of the ceramic matrix composite, has a total metal volume percent in the range of about 10% to about 90%, with no dimension of any open shape being greater than about ¾ inch. The ceramic matrix layer covers a substantial portion of at least one external side of the open metal structure. At least one external side of the metal portion of the ICS material is bonded with a ceramic matrix composite such that the ceramic layer occupies at least a significant portion of the open pores of the metal portion and is bonded to a significant portion of at least one external side of the metal element. The present invention is also a method of manufacturing such an ICS material.

Zero-valent iron two-phase anaerobic reactor

The invention, belongs to the field of wastewater treatment technology, is a two-phase anaerobic reactor enhanced by addition of zero valent iron (ZVI). In the reactor, 2˜4 ZVI-filling layers are settled in the middle of the anaerobic hydrolysis-acidification tank, the effluent of which is fed into the rear anaerobic methanogenic tank. The degradation of organics is effectively enhanced in the anaerobic hydrolysis-acidification tank with dosing of ZVI, which may produce more acetic acid that is a desired substrate for the subsequent methanogenesis. Meanwhile, the acidic environment of the hydrolysis-acidification tank is helpful for the dissolution of ZVI to maintain its activity. The reactor is reasonably designed with high performance and strong shock resistance in anaerobic treatment of various wastewaters. Tests in lab-scale showed that hydrolysis-acidification and methanogenesis in this combined system were significantly improved compared with a reference reactor without addition of ZVI.

The novel heat-resistant steel belongs to martensitic heat-resistant steel and has the good high-temperature property and oxidation resistance property, thus temperature parameters of the steam turbine are increased, and the power generating efficiency of the steam turbine is improved advantageously.

The present invention belongs to microbial technology field and relates to a strain producing toluene o-xylene monooxygenase (Arthrobacter woluwensis) HW-1 and its application in preparation of 5-methylpyrazine-2-carboxylic acid by microbial fermentation. The present invention providing a new strain HW-1 which could produce toluene o-xylene monooxygenase, and the strain is identified as Arthrobacter woluwensis. The strain is firstly found to convert 2, 5-dimethylpyrazine by bio-fermentation to obtain the medicine intermediate 5-methylpyrazine-2-carboxylic acid. The concentration of accumulated product could reach 34.19 g / L and the yield rate is 81.4% by shake flask fermentation. Compared with 20.41 g / L reported in the literature, this method has a greater advantage and could be industrialized. The conditions to prepare 5-methylpyrazine-2-carboxylic acid provided in the present invention is mild, the reaction process is controllable and has good performance in environmental protection and energy saving. So this invention has great value in industry.

The composite conductive polyethylene carbon black material provided by the invention improves the interaction between a conductive filler and a high molecular matrix, effectively inhibits the agglomeration and the position offset of carbon black in the matrix, increases the PTC(Positive Temperature Coefficient) strength, retards the NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) effect, and increases the stability of PTC effect in repeated heating cycle. The method has simple process and low cost, basically causes no pollution to the environment and is convenient to popularize and apply widely.
