A semiconductor device and package has a heat spreader directly disposed on the reverse surface of the semiconductor device. This heat spreader includes a diamond layer or a layer containing diamond and ceramics such as silicon carbide and aluminum nitride. The heat spreader is directly formed on a substrate for the semiconductor device. In particular, the heat spreader is composed of a diamond layer and one or two metal or ceramic members, which are bonded to the diamond layer with one or two polymer adhesive layers. This diamond layer has a fiber structure across the thickness or a microcrystalline structure. Cilia are formed on a surface of the diamond layer facing the one or two metal or ceramic members.

A wind turbine foundation having a central pedestal, a bottom support slab, and a plurality of prefabricated radial reinforcing ribs. The pedestal and support slab are poured in situ at the site. When the concrete cures the support slab is united to the prefabricated ribs and the ribs are also united to the pedestal. The result is a continuous monolithic foundation wherein loads are carried across the structure vertically and laterally through the continuous structure by doweled and spliced reinforcing steel bars which are integrally cast into the pedestal, ribs and support slab. The slab thus behaves structurally as a continuous slab reducing deflections, improving fatigue conditions and increasing the stiffness of the foundation as well as allowing for the benefits of an economical design.

A method and apparatus for treating ship ballast water before it is discharged into coastal waters. The ballast water may contain a generalized and diverse species population of harmful non-indigenous microorganisms. Before discharge, the ballast water is oxygenated and deoxygenated to reduce the populations of anaerobic and aerobic microorganisms, respectively. If anaerobic microorganisms are of no concern, the oxygenation step can be eliminated. Also, a method and apparatus for treating large volumes of any water, to reduce the population of a wide spectrum of diverse species of microorganisms wherein the water is deoxygenated, and then held in a sealed space for a period of time until the aerobic population has been reduced.

The self-rolling pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet can be very easily peeled off from an adherend without causing a damage or a contamination on the adherend, even when it is adhered to an adherend of a relatively low strength.

The invention discloses an ecological restoration method for a lakeside wetland. In the method, hygrophilous woody plants are planted in a lakeside zone to construct wetland plant communities. The hygrophilous woody plants comprise hygrophilous arbor and hygrophilous shrub, wherein the hygrophilous arbor comprises willows, metasequoia, ascendens mucronatum, taxodium ascendens brongn and bamboo; the hygrophilous shrub comprises iteaceae and S.integra thrnb; and the plants are planted in the way of shoot cottage or soil ball transplant. The hygrophilous woody plants are perennial plants, have a low growth rate, low biomass, low growth amount and low plant disposal pressure and do not need felling and refloating every year, so that the defects of frequently harvesting and refloating herbal emergent aquatic plant communities every year are overcome, the maintenance and management cost of lake wetland plant communities are reduced, the lakeside depositing rate is lowered, and the secondary pollution hidden danger to lake water bodies is relieved. Compared with the prior art, the method has the characteristics of convenient operation, maintenance and management, low maintenance cost, high ecological benefit, easy popularization and application and the like and can be used for ecological restoration engineering of lake and lakeside bottomlands, swamp marshes and shallow water zones.

Method of manufacturing a spark plug for an internal combustion engine

In a spark plug for an internal combustion engine, a noble metal chip such as an iridium alloy chip is bonded on the tip of a center electrode made of a material such as nickel by laser beam welding. The noble metal chip contains another noble metal such as rhodium having a melting point lower than that of the noble metal chip. By laser welding, a molten bond containing the noble metal melted thereinto from the noble metal chip is formed at the junction of the noble metal chip and the center electrode. Alternatively, the noble metal to be melted into the molten bond may be supplied by a separate noble metal plate. The molten bond thus made has a high bonding strength and a small thermal stress, and thereby durability of the spark plug is improved.
