Alignment of MTJ stack to conductive lines in the absence of topography

A scheme for aligning opaque material layers of a semiconductor device. Alignment marks are formed in a via level of the semiconductor device. The alignment marks are formed using a separate lithography mask, and may have about the same length as vias formed in the via layer. The alignment marks comprise trenches that are not filled with material and are not exposed to a CMP process. An opaque material layer is deposited, and depressions are formed in the opaque material layer over the alignment mark trenches. The depressions in the opaque material layer are used to align a lithography process to open the opaque material layer over alignment marks in an underlying metallization layer. The alignment marks in the metallization layer are then used to align the lithography process used to pattern the opaque material layer.

Single dielectric barrier aerodynamic plasma actuation

A single dielectric barrier aerodynamic plasma actuator apparatus based on the dielectric barrier discharge phenomenon is disclosed and suggested for application to aerodynamic uses for drag reduction, stall elimination and airfoil efficiency improvement. In the plasma actuator apparatus non-uniform in time and space, partially ionized gasses are generated by one or more electrode pairs each having one electrically encapsulated electrode and one air stream exposed electrode and energization by a high-voltage alternating current waveform. The influence of electrical waveform variation, electrode polarity, electrode size and electrode shape on the achieved plasma are considered along with theoretical verification of achieved results. Light output, generated thrust, ionizing current waveform and magnitude and other variables are considered. Misconceptions prevailing in the present day plasma generation art are addressed and are believed-to-be corrected. The influence of electrostatic shielding effects of the developed plasma on the applied electric field are also considered.

Attribute based association rule mining

A data processing system processes data sets (such as low-resolution transaction data) into high-resolution data sets by mapping generic information into attribute-based specific information that is stored in a database. The extracting frequent pattern information from the database using frequent pattern growth techniques, a compact frequent pattern tree data structure efficiently holds frequent pattern information for multiple transactions having one or more items in each transaction. Frequent pattern data is transformed for ease of use with rule generation algorithms by removing redundant information (such as part group items) or by consolidating items corresponding to a part group and replacing those items with a proxy item for purposes of power set generation.

Tape substrate and method for fabricating the same

A tape substrate including an insulating film, a copper foil pattern formed on the insulating film at one side of the insulating film, and provided with a connecting area where an electronic element is to be mounted, a barrier layer plated on the copper foil pattern at the connecting area, and formed with a plurality of pores, and a tin layer plated on the barrier layer, and alloyed with a portion of the copper foil pattern corresponding to the connecting area, through the pores. A method for fabricating the tape substrate is also disclosed. In accordance with the invention, it is possible to reduce the time taken for the copper foil pattern to come into contact with the electroless tin plating solution used in the tin plating process, thereby preventing the copper component of the copper foil pattern from being eluted. Accordingly, there is no open-circuit fault caused by formation of pores. The barrier layer makes it possible to obtain an improved plating efficiency and to reduce the thickness of the alloy layer. In addition, the barrier layer serves to reduce internal stress generated at the interface between the tin layer and the copper foil pattern, thereby suppressing formation of voids. Accordingly, there is an effect of preventing a short circuit caused by the growth of whiskers.

Integrated prouction loss management

Current monitoring systems often provide the operating condition of a specific component and do not consider the impact of a specific failure upon an entire system or a business. Nor do the current systems provide an avenue for the business to predict the loss, as well as its impact, and make an educated decision of mitigating the loss based upon economic, environmental, and health and safety considerations. Methods and systems are provided for predicting loss events, impacts of loss events, and providing potential corrective measures to reduce or eliminate the occurrence or impact of the loss events. One aspect relates to the use of system-wide information to predict variables that are directly linked to business impact, such as production loss. Extraneous and transactional data are also utilized according to other aspects of the invention.
