The afforestation survival rate and the growth increment of plants at the earlier stage of delavaya toxocarpa seedling planting are increased under the protection action of the negundo chastetree. Compared with a traditional afforestation method, the method in the present invention employs mixed planting of the negundo chastetree and the delavaya toxocarpa which are common in the rocky desertification area. On one hand, the negundo chastetree is easily available with low transplanting difficulty, and is extremely high in survival rate and short in recovery growth stage; on the other hand, the afforestation survival rate and the growth increment of plants of the delavaya toxocarpa in 1-2 years after the afforestation can also be effectively increased. Test data provided by the applicant indicates that the total increments of the average heights of one-year plants and two-year plants of the delavaya toxocarpa seedlings after the afforestation are 36.1 cm and 116.5 cm, respectively, while that of the conventional afforestation method is only 5.7 cm and 29.1 cm, respectively.
