The invention discloses a method for improving the potential distribution of insulators in a transmission line in a filthy and wet environment. The method comprises the following steps of: selecting a flashover frequent segment on the basis of the historical data of an overhead transmission line; selecting a pole and tower, a conducting wire, an organic composite insulator and a tampered glass insulator string with largest usage amount from the flashover frequent segment; by utilizing a finite element numerical calculation method and adopting a three-dimensional finite element model, respectively calculating electric field distribution parameters and potential distribution parameters of the corresponding organic composite insulator and the corresponding tampered glass insulator string in an ideal clean and dry environment and an ideal filthy and wet environment, and performing simulation analysis; building a physical test platform for testing; and calling a corresponding potential improvement strategy on the basis of obtained simulation analysis and test results. By the method for improving the potential distribution provided by the invention, the advantages of high power supply reliability of a power grid, high safety and good economic benefit can be realized.
