Xylosma /zaɪˈlɒzmə/ is a genus of flowering plants in the willow family, Salicaceae. It contains around 100 species of evergreen shrubs and trees commonly known as brushhollies, xylosmas, or, more ambiguously, "logwoods". The generic name is derived from the Greek words ξύλον (xylon), meaning "wood," and ὀσμή (osmé), meaning "smell," referring to the fragrant wood of some of the species. The Takhtajan system places it in the family Flacourtiaceae, which is considered defunct by the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group.

The invention provides a biomass coloring agent used for coloring a xylosma white edge material and a preparation method thereof, relates to a bioass coloring agent and a preparation method thereof, and aims at solving the problems that the conventional method of directly removing the white edge leads to the waste of resource during removal of the xylosma white edge, the conventional coloring agent causes heavy pollution, and the conventional method for preparing the coloring agent is complex in process and cannot realize green and environmental protection purposes. The biomass coloring agent used for coloring the xylosma white edge material is prepared from xylosma powder and ammonia water in massic volume proportion. The preparation method comprises the following steps of: mixing the ammonia water with the xylosma powder; standing for 1 to 2 days at room temperature in a sealing manner to obtain a mixture; and filtering the mixture to obtain a filtrate which is the biomass coloring agent used for coloring the xylosma white edge. After the xylosma white edge is colored through the prepared biomass coloring agent, the ageing resistance of the xylosma edge material is close to that of a heartwood, so that the color difference between the xylosma edge and the core material is reduced, and the color is towards the unification. The method is simple in operation, green and environment-friendly, and is applied to the xylosma coloring field.
