The archiving is performed automatically, beginning with an initial duplication of the existing contents of the client volume into an archive volume, then continuing as changes, including additions, deletions and modifications, are made to the files comprising the client volume. Older, previously-archived versions of modified files are gracefully discarded so as to moderate the rate of growth of the archive volume. The archive volume may be used to restore the client volume, either selectively or in whole, in the event of inadvertent damage to, or loss of, files in the client volume.

The present invention pertains to methods for forming high quality thin interface oxide layers suitable for use with high-k gate dielectrics in the manufacture of semiconductor devices. An ambient that contains oxygen and a reducing agent is utilized to grow the layers. The oxygen facilitates growth of the layers, while the reducing agent simultaneously counteracts that growth. The rate of growth of the layers can thus be controlled by regulating the partial pressure of the reducing agent, which is the fraction of the reducing agent in the gas phase times the total pressure. Controlling and slowing the growth rate of the layers facilitates production of the layers to thicknesses of about 10 Angstroms or less at temperatures of about 850 degrees Celsius or more. Growing the layers at high temperatures facilitates better bonding and production of higher quality layers, which in turn yields better performing and more reliable resulting products.

Addition of water vapor to the gas mixture may result in an increase in the length of the nanotubes, an increase the rate of growth, and a decrease in contamination of the array by amorphous carbon. The temperature and growth time are also chosen to minimize the amount of amorphous carbon that forms on the array. Fibers spun from the array have a higher tensile strength compared to known CNT fibers.

A technique for improving the performance of OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) systems addresses the Sampling Frequency Offset (SFO) estimation and correction problems of conventional techniques and provides improved performance in a wide range of operating conditions. The technique teaches a correction scheme that uses known pilots in each OFDM symbol to estimate slope of phase error and subsequently calculate the correction factor for each of the sub-carriers in the associated OFDM symbol. The present subject matter further teaches an averaging slope estimates over a window of predetermined number of OFDM symbols to average out noise and get a refined correction factor. In addition, the present technique teaches tracking rate of growth of slope across OFDM symbols to estimate SFO, which can be used for the timing error correction in the time domain.
