This invention discloses a gel-like
flange protection and monitoring material, its preparation method, and its application, belonging to the field of industrial
flange protection and leakage monitoring technology. The material is a
toothpaste-like extrudable
colloid, comprising, by weight: 75-88 parts of protective matrix
adhesive, 3-12 parts of pH-responsive core-shell microcapsules, 1-3 parts of interface compatibilizer, 2-5 parts of
toughening modifier, 0.5-2 parts of anti-aging additive, 1-4 parts of thixotropic modifier, and 0.5-2 parts of anti-
corrosion additive. The pH-responsive microcapsules use a compound of
methyl red,
bromocresol green, and
thymol blue as the core material, with a particle size of 20-50 μm and a shell thickness of 2-3 μm. This invention replaces traditional
flange covers with an
extrusion coating method, eliminating the need for bolt fixing. It is suitable for flanges of various sizes, providing
physical protection against impacts, dust, and media splashes. Simultaneously, it rapidly develops color when acidic or alkaline media leak, enabling naked-eye
visual monitoring of the leakage location. It is convenient to construct and simple to maintain, and is suitable for flange protection in industries such as chemical,
petroleum, water, and energy.
