An apparatus for and method of minimizing the thermo-mechanical fatigue of flip-chip packages. The interposer of the present invention, preferably comprising an organic polymer such as polyimide, contains apertures having conductive plugs inserted therein for joining a chip to a substrate in an electronic module utilizing flip-chip packaging. The interposer is selected to provide optimum spacing between the chip and substrate having a coefficient of thermal expansion adapted to the thermal cycling temperature extremes of the module components. The interposer may comprise an inner core with two adhesive outer layers which may comprise different materials to promote adhesion at their respective interfaces within a module. Conductive plugs are disposed within the apertures of the interposer comprising of a first and second solder or comprising a conductive plug having top and bottom surfaces coated with a conductive adhesive. Preferably, the first solder is disposed within an interior of the apertures and the second solder is disposed within an exterior of the apertures such that the first solder is between a first portion and a second portion of the second solder. Upon reflow, the second solder is reflowed while the first solder remains solid.

The invention relates to a method and a device for monitoring, also permanently and automatically, temperature distributions and / or temperature anomalies on the basis of distributed fiber-optic temperature sensing as well as to the use of such methods. According to the invention the detection of local temperature extremes, i.e. minimums or maximums, in view of the evaluation is performed by an evaluation without numeric derivations. With the device for monitoring ascending and supply pipes surrounded by an annular space it is possible to check the safety of pressurized installations, particularly in the field of low-pressure gas storage, in a cost-efficient manner. Moreover, the position of an underground watershed or respectively the direction and flow rate of the flows in flooded drift sections can be determined on the basis of fiber-optic temperature measurements. The defined arrangement of preferably vertical sensor cables inserted into the bores also makes it possible to examine the tightness of base sole and lateral walls in building excavations. Finally, the virtually horizontal, meander-shaped arrangement of fiber-optic cables situated in several levels makes it possible to evaluate and control the efficacy and homogeneity of leaching processes in leaching dumps and fills.

Underwater power generation for an underwater vessel is provided when the vessel transits through an underwater thermocline. At least a portion of the shell of the vessel is made from a thermally conductive material. Thermo-to-electric energy converters are electrically coupled together with each converter having a first surface thermally coupled to the shell's inner surface. A phase change material is thermally coupled to each opposing second surface of the converters. The phase change material has a phase change temperature that is between the upper and lower temperature extremes of the underwater thermocline's temperature range. The converters generate electrical power as the underwater vessel transits through the underwater thermocline.

Keeping an infant comfortable and well ventilated when out for a stroll with mommy is the intent of this invention. A conditioned-air baby stroller keeps an infant comfortable while pushed by its caretaker. The working components of the heating and cooling apparatus are easily attachable by Velcro® or other attachment means to the baby carriage. Reliable electrical power is assured by a small electrical generator mechanically rotated when the childcare provider pushes the four-wheeled carriage. The generator provides heated or cooled air for the baby's comfort, electrically powering fan assemblies, easily mounted inside the canopy in a flow direction desired by the caretaker. Each fan assembly comprises a housing, a blower fan and motor, and heating element disposed in the housing and protected from accidental contact by a protective screen. An optional battery, kept charged by the electrical generator, continues to provide electric power if the caretaker stops the carriage. By applying electrical power from the generator to the heating element the infant is kept warm in cold weather. In hot weather the air intake side of each fan housing allows insertion of a refrigerated cold pack for increased infant comfort. Desired heating and cooling conditions are selected by activation of selection buttons fixedly securable by a clamp mechanism is to the handle of the baby stroller. An optional snap-on cover provides a microenvironment for the infant in times of temperature extremes.

A preparation method of the grease lubricant comprises the following steps: fully stirring the base oil and the extreme pressure additive to uniformly mix them, adding the thickener, continuously fully stirring to uniformly mix, adding the active dispersant, stir-mixing for a certain amount of time, and grinding to uniformly disperse to obtain the grease lubricant. The grease lubricant of the invention has good high temperature performances, a good colloid stability, and a good mechanical stability, and is especially suitable for mechanical lubrication parts working under high-temperature heavy-load high-pollution conditions.

After sensing the temperature of the power amplifier, the operation of the RF power amplifier is controlled accordingly. System and Method for Hydrothermal Reactions - Two Layer Liner

A system and method for performing hydrothermal treatment includes a reactor vessel having a pressure bearing wall. The surface of the pressure bearing wall that faces the reactor chamber is covered by a liner to protect the wall from exposure to temperature extremes, corrosives and salt deposits. The liner is formed with a porous layer and a non-porous, corrosion resistant layer. The corrosion resistant layer is positioned adjacent to the porous layer to seal the porous layer between the corrosion resistant layer and the wall of the vessel. Connectors extend through the wall of the reactor vessel to allow for fluid communication between the porous layer and an externally located pump. A heat transfer fluid can be selectively passed through the porous layer to maintain the temperature of the liner.

The ohmmeter (406) measures the temperature of the test coupon (400) with a thermocouple. The data is used to detect failures of the materials in the test coupon (400) during the temperature cycling.

The present invention provides a colorant composition that is universally compatible with a wide variety of aqueous / water-based and organic solvent-based paints and coatings, while exhibiting physical and performance characteristics that are comparable to conventional colorant compositions that contain VOCs and APEs. A process for preparing a universal colorant composition for tinting a wide variety of aqueous / water-based and organic solvent-based paints and coatings is also provided.

An apparatus and method for allowing emergency calling with a Global System for Mobile (GSM) radiotelephone during temperature extremes includes a Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card, a temperature sensor; and a controller that detects when the radiotelephone has a SIM card error, whereupon the controller obtains a temperature measurement from the temperature sensor. If it is found that the temperature measurement is outside of an operating temperature range of the SIM card, the controller permits the radiotelephone to make an emergency calls only.
