This invention discloses a method for forming an insert for
casting and a dedicated mold thereof, specifically including the following steps: placing a preheated
metal preform into the cavity of a
casting mold using a positioning structure, located at a hot spot or area requiring strengthening in the
casting; clamping and fixing the
metal preform using a positioning mechanism in the mold during mold closing to prevent displacement during pouring; injecting
molten metal into the cavity using casting equipment, with the
molten metal slowly rising from the bottom or side and covering the preform. The method for forming an insert for casting and the dedicated mold of this invention accurately position the
metal preform in a designated area within the mold, pour
molten metal into the cavity to cover the preform, and control the cooling process to allow the molten metal to solidify around the preform, forming a composite casting metallurgically bonded to it. The metal preform constitutes a localized cavity structure within the casting, which can be used to optimize the solidification process in hot spot areas, while simultaneously achieving weight reduction and strengthening.
