The invention discloses a device for insulating a side wall of a directional solidified steel
ingot. The device is characterized by comprising a
water cooling base plate, an insulating material layer, a high-strength heat-resisting material layer, a heat-insulation
air layer, a fire-resistant plate and a high-thermal-insulation heat-resisting material layer, wherein the
water cooling base plate is arranged at the bottom of the device, the insulating material layer is covered on the surface of
molten steel, the high-strength heat-resisting material layer is contacted with the
molten steel and is positioned inside the device, the heat-insulation
air layer is arranged in the middle of the device, the fire-resistant plate is inserted into the heat-insulation
air layer, the high-thermal-insulation heat-resisting material layer is arranged at the outer side and upper surface of the device, and the whole side wall insulating device is sealed. The outer surface of the high-strength heat-resisting material layer and the inner surface of the high-thermal-insulation heat-resisting material layer are inlaid or coated with a low-blackness substance, and the surface of the fire-resistant plate is also inlaid or coated with the low blackness substance. By adopting the device disclosed by the invention, the
heat transfer on the side wall can be obviously reduced, the side wall of a
casting ingot is maintained to be in an adiabatic state, the
formation rate of columnar crystals is improved, and the quality of a cast
ingot is improved.
