The invention discloses a method for extracting cedar oil and co-producing active carbon from China fir sawdust, which comprises the following steps of: distilling fresh China fir sawdust by using steam with the temperature between 100 and 120 DEG C for 3 to 4 hours, making the obtained steam enter a cooling process, and obtaining the cedar oil after oil-water separation; smoldering and carbonizing the China fir sawdust subjected to oil distillation, preheating the carbonized materials by using the steam; and after the temperature of the carbonized materials is between 80 and 100 DEG C, activating the carbonized materials in a flowing gas activation furnace at the temperature of between 800 and 1,000 DEG C for 15 to 20 seconds, and performing ball-milling on the coarse carbon which is obtained by activation so as to obtain physical active carbon. The energy used for distilling the China fir sawdust and preheating the carbonized materials and used by the flowing gas activation furnace is steam with the pressure of 3 to 4 KPa which is generated by waste heat in the production process of recovering the active carbon by using a waste heat boiler. The method can improve the yield and the quality, reduce the production cost, and improve the economic benefits.
