A process is provided for treating a solution, gel, or suspension of pectin starting material having a degree of esterification greater than about 60% with a cation-containing preparation to obtain at least a first fraction having a higher degree of calcium sensitivity and a second fraction having a lower degree of calcium sensitivity than said pectin starting material. The resultant composition has a degree of esterification greater than about 60% and a ratio of calcium sensitive pectin to the sum of calcium sensitive pectin and non-calcium sensitive pectin greater than about 0.60. Compositions using citrus pectin have a degree of esterification less than about 80% and a ratio on non-calcium sensitive pectin to the sum of calcium sensitive pectin and non-calcium sensitive pectin greater than about 0.60. These compositions are used, for example, in admixture with foodstuffs, in personal hygienic devices, and in cosmetics.

Method of preparing citrus pectin oligosaccharide under weak electrolysis condition

The invention relates to a method of preparing citrus pectin oligosaccharide under a weak electrolysis condition. The method comprises following steps: dissolving high ester citrus pectin in a sodiumchloride solution to prepare a pectin solution; adding the pectin solution into an electrolytic tank (A) taking graphite as the negative pole; adding a sodium chloride solution with an equal concentration into an electrolytic tank (B) taking a platinum electrode as the positive pole; carrying out DC electrolysis under a weak electrolysis condition (voltage is 15 to 25V), stirring the solutions during the electrolysis process; collecting obtained electrolytic solution in the electrolytic tank (A), adjusting the pH to 6-7 by using hydrochloric acid; adding anhydrous ethanol to carry out precipitation, wherein the ratio of anhydrous ethanol to the electrolytic solution is 4:1; collecting the precipitates, and drying to obtain pectin oligosaccharide. By adopting the provided method, macromolecular high ester citrus pectin is electrolyzed to obtain micromolecular pectin oligosaccharide; by controlling the electrolysis voltage and time, the degradation degree can be controlled so as to obtain pectin oligosaccharide (POS) with a molecular weight of 3000 to 8000, and the commodity value is increased. Moreover, the method is environmentally friendly and can be applied to industrial production easily, and the power consumption is low.

Green preparation method of copper nano particles based on citrus pectin and application of copper nano particles

The invention discloses a preparation method of copper nano particles based on citrus pectin, and belongs to the field of nano materials. According to the preparation method, copper chloride is adopted as a copper precursor, pectin dissolved by sodium hydroxide serves as a stabilizer and a reducing agent, meanwhile, ascorbic acid is also used as a reducing agent, the copper nano particles are synthesized through simple microwave assistance to obtain a reddish brown copper nano-liquid, and finally, the powder copper nano particles are obtained through high-speed centrifugation, washing and drying. Under ultraviolet visible light, the maximum absorption peak of the nano particles is 590 nm. Meanwhile, the invention further provides application of the copper nano particles based on the citruspectin in the bacteriostasis field. The copper nano particles have the advantages of good dispersibility, high safety performance and the like. The method is simple in production process, green and environment-friendly, and has a wide prospect in the field of medical bacteriostasis.

A pectic enzyme treated pectin (PET-pectin) and a method of producing the same are disclosed. Citrus pectin solution is subjected to an enzymatic hydrolysis by using a mixed pectinase solution under an acidic condition, so as to obtain PET-pectin that is completely hydrolyzed. The PET-pectin has several biological functions, including stability of emulsification, anti-oxidation and inhibition of cancer cell growth, thereby being applied on food emulsion stabilizers, food antioxidants and compositions for inhibiting cancer cell growth and so on.
