Gene expression profiling based identification of genomic signatures of multiple myeloma and uses thereof

Monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance can progress to multiple myeloma. Applying significance analysis of microarrays, 52 genes, involved in important pathways related to cancer, were differentially expressed between plasma cells from healthy subjects and patients with stringently defined monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance / smoldering multiple myeloma and symptomatic multiple myeloma. Unsupervised hierarchical clustering of 351 multiple myeloma and 44 cases of monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance and 16 cases of multiple myeloma with a monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance history, created two major cluster branches, one containing 82% of the monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance cases and 28% of the multiple myeloma, termed monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance-like multiple myeloma. Using the same clustering approach on an independent cohort of 213 cases of multiple myeloma revealed 27% with monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance-like multiple myeloma which, despite a lower incidence of complete remission, was associated with low-risk clinical and molecular features and superior survival. The monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance-like multiple myeloma signature was also seen in patients surviving more than 10 years after autotransplant.

Double-variable-pitch-propeller aircraft

The invention relates to a double-variable-pitch-propeller aircraft, belonging to the technical field of aviation. The double-variable-pitch-propeller aircraft comprises a fuselage, a tail device, a left wing, a right wing, a left variable-pitch rotor wing, a right variable-pitch rotor wing and an undercarriage. An operation and control system, airborne equipment and energy equipment are equipped in the fuselage. The tail device comprises a left tail propeller, a right tail propeller and a vertical tail. The left variable-pitch rotor wing and the right variable-pitch rotor wing are the same in structure, parameter and working principle and are symmetrically arranged at the left and right sides of the fuselage, so as to supply lift and thrust to the aircraft. The right variable-pitch rotor wing comprises an engine, a main shaft, an electric brush device, a wheel hub and two or four identical propellers which are uniformly distributed around the wheel hub. A main shaft of the right variable-pitch rotor wing is in counterclockwise rotation, at the right side of the main shaft, propeller vanes forwards move at low incidence to generate an upward towing force, and at the left side of the main shaft, the propeller vanes backwards flap at high incidence to generate a forward thrust force, so that the aircraft moves forwards. The aircraft is applied to a variety of tasks, such as aerial photography, geographical mapping, agriculture-forestry-husbandry operation, military reconnaissance and emergency rescue and disaster relief.

External-use ointment for treating empyrosis and preparation method thereof

The invention provides external-use ointment for treating empyrosis and a preparation method thereof. The external-use ointment is empyrosis humectation ointment prepared from Chinese medicaments and Western medicaments through processing, and comprises the following components in part by weight: 10 to 30 parts of Chinese angelica, 10 to 25 parts of golden thread, 10 to 25 parts of amur corktree bark, 10 to 25 parts of baical skullcap root, 10 to 20 parts of prepared frankincense, 20 to 25 parts of prepared myrrh, 1 to 3 parts of musk, 10 to 20 parts of borneol, 150 to 270 parts of silver sulfadiazine powder, 500 to 1,000 parts of Vaseline and 40 to 80 parts of bees wax. The ointment adopts the Chinese angelica, the frankincense and the myrrh which have the effects of activating blood circulation, relieving pain and promoting tissue regeneration; the golden thread, the amur corktree bark and the baical skullcap root have the effects of clearing away heat and toxic materials and eliminating dampness; the borneol has bitter and cold properties, can clear away heat to be cool when in external use, and has the lasting effect of constringency, tissue regeneration and odynolysis when being compatible with the musk; and the silver sulfadiazine powder has the effects of sterilization and antiphlogosis. The whole medicament has the effects of promoting blood circulation by removing blood stasis, diminishing inflammation and relieving pain, changing rot and promoting tissue, inhibiting exudation and promoting wound healing, and has low incidence rate of scar.

Focused beam spectroscopic ellipsometry method and system

A method and system for spectroscopic ellipsometry employing reflective optics to measure a small region of a sample by reflecting radiation (preferably broadband UV, visible, and near infrared radiation) from the region. The system preferably has an autofocus assembly and a processor programmed to determine from the measurements the thickness and/or complex refractive index of a thin film on the sample. Preferably, only reflective optics are employed along the optical path between the polarizer and analyzer, a sample beam reflects with low incidence angle from each component of the reflective optics, the beam is reflectively focused to a small, compact spot on the sample at a range of high incidence angles, and an incidence angle selection element is provided for selecting for measurement only radiation reflected from the sample at a single, selected angle (or narrow range of angles). The focusing mirror preferably has an elliptical shape to reduce off-axis aberrations in the focused beam. Some embodiments include both a spectrophotometer and an ellipsometer integrated together as a single instrument. In such instrument, the spectrophotometer and ellipsometer share a radiation source, and radiation from the source can be focused by either the spectrophotometer or the ellipsometer to the same focal point on a sample. Preferred embodiments of the ellipsometer employ a rotating, minimal-length Rochon prism as a polarizer, and include a spectrometer with an intensified photodiode array to measure reflected radiation from the sample, and a reference channel (in addition to a sample channel which detects radiation reflected from the sample).
