The preparation method comprises the following steps: respectively dissolving sodium iodate or potassium iodate and silver nitrate in water, adding one solution into another solution under the stirring condition so as to generate suspension of silver iodate; dripping hydrazine hydrate, sodium borohydride and other aqueous solutions containing reducing substances into the obtained suspension, irradiating the suspension under illumination of a xenon lamp of 300W for 5-30 minutes by adopting a photoreduction method, generating metal silver nanoparticles on the surfaces of silver iodate particles in situ, and finally, filtering the precipitate, washing and drying to obtain the flake silver @ silver iodate visible light photocatalyst. The method can be implemented at room temperature and under normal pressure, the cost is low, the equipment is simple and easy to operate, large-scale production can be realized, and the method has significant potential application in the aspect of industrial production. The prepared flake silver @ silver iodate photocatalytic material has high photocatalytic performance, the elemental silver and silver iodate generated due to in-situ reduction are firmly bound, and separation of photon-generated carriers is obviously improved.
