Labeling module (7) for labeling containers (2) suitable for holding a pourable product, the labeling module (7) comprising the following: - a feed roller (8) for advancing a web (4) of labeling material along a feed path (Q); - a
cutting element (11) arranged along the feed path (Q) downstream of the feed roller (8) for repeatedly
cutting the web (4), thereby separating a sequence of labels (3) from it; and - a transfer drum (12) which is rotatable in a rotational
angular direction (D) about a
rotational axis (X) and is designed to transfer the labels (3) to an application
station (A) for application to the respective containers (2); wherein the transfer drum (12) comprises a plurality of receiving sectors (13) each designed to cyclically receive and retain a
label (3), wherein the receiving sectors (13) each comprise a front sliding shoe (13a) for retaining a
front edge (3a) of the
label (3) and a rear sliding shoe (13b; 13b') for retaining a rear edge (3b) of the
label (3); wherein the
cutting element (11) is arranged radially adjacent to the transfer drum (12) and is designed for sequential cutting of the web on the drum (12) at the rear sliding shoes (3b), thereby separating the labels (3) from the web (4); characterized in that: the cutting element (11) comprises a blade element (14) and the transfer drum (12) comprises a plurality of surface elements (15), each
surface element (15) being arranged on a respective rear sliding shoe (13b; 13b') and being part of the respective receiving sector (13); wherein the cutting element (11) is designed to
cut the web (4) at a cutting
station (C), the cutting
station (C) being cyclically defined between the blade element (14) and a respective
surface element (15); and wherein the cutting element (11) and the transfer drum (12) are positioned and actuated on opposite sides of the feed path (Q) to jointly convey the blade element (14) and the surface elements (15) at the cutting station (C), where the blade element (14) and sequentially each respective
surface element (15) are cyclically positioned on opposite sides of the path (4), so that the cutting of the path is carried out by positioning the blade element (14) in front of the surface element (15); wherein the cutting element (11) further comprises a stop element (18) which adjoins the blade element (14) and is designed to bear against the rear sliding shoe (13b; 13b') to temporarily prevent movement of the track (4) along the feed path (Q) during cutting of the same.
