The invention discloses a method for preparing a copolymer of dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride and acrylamide through initiation of a composite initiator. In the method, powder products of the copolymer of dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride and acrylamide are prepared by taking high-purity industrial products, i.e., dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride monomers and acrylamide monomers as raw materials, adding a metallic ion chelating agent and the composite initiator, initiating polymerization to produce colloidal products through heating in three steps, and then drying and crushing. In the invention, the content of various main impurities in the high-purity industrial products, i.e., cationic monomers and nonionic monomer materials, is known, and the upper limit of the content is defined, the process for preparing the products through copolymerizing the monomers has good stability, and the products have high relative molecular mass; the obtained PDA (Poly(DMDAAC-co-AM) products have high seriation degree of cationic degree, and the PDA products have high relative molecular mass under each cationic degree and a broad application range and can be more widely applied to a plurality of fields such as oil exploitation, papermaking, mining, textile printing and dyeing, daily-use chemical industry, water treatment and the like.
