A vacuole (/ˈvækjuːoʊl/) is a membrane-bound organelle which is present in all plant and fungal cells and some protist, animal and bacterial cells. Vacuoles are essentially enclosed compartments which are filled with water containing inorganic and organic molecules including enzymes in solution, though in certain cases they may contain solids which have been engulfed. Vacuoles are formed by the fusion of multiple membrane vesicles and are effectively just larger forms of these. The organelle has no basic shape or size; its structure varies according to the requirements of the cell.

Method for preparing fresh aromatic essential oil

The present invention relates to a method which utilizes fresh aromatic plants as materials and combines the microwave heating technology with the vacuum technology to prepare essential oil. The method includes the following steps: the tissue structure of aromatic plant material is broken by cutting and grinding; after microwave irradiation is utilized to heat the aromatic plant material to a certain temperature, pressure is rapidly reduced to intensely gasify the moisture in the material so that the histiocytes, oil vacuoles and gland cells of the aromatic plants are broken; an aromatic substance is released from the cells and quickly volatilize; and the effect of the intense gasification and spreading of the moisture in the fresh material can effectively promote and intensify the volatilization of the aromatic ingredient, so that the abstraction of the essential aromatic plant oil can be fulfilled in a short time. The processing temperature in the process of the abstraction of the essential plant oil is low, the oxidation of sensitive ingredients can be avoided, the stability of the ingredients of the essential aromatic plant oil can be kept to the max, the time of abstraction is short, the efficiency is high, energy can be saved, and industrialized production can be conveniently realized.

Tumor-targeted delivery carrier based on cell-derived micro-vacuoles, preparation method and application

The invention discloses a tumor-targeted delivery carrier based on cell-derived micro-vacuoles, a preparation method and an application. The preparation method comprises the following steps of: (A) preparing a conditioned medium: supplementing fetal bovine serum, antibiotics, DSPE-PEG-Biotin and DSPE-PEG-Folate into a basal medium; (B) using the obtained conditioned medium in cell culture, and collecting cell culture supernatant for subsequent separation; (C) carrying out low-speed centrifugation on the obtained culture supernatant to remove cell debris and apoptotic bodies, then adding SA-IONPs, mixing uniformly, incubating, then separating by a magnet, using PBS for re-suspension, eluting for multiple times to obtain the cell-derived micro-vacuoles with membrane surfaces modified by folic acid and iron oxide nano-particles, and freezing for storage; and (D) loading chemotherapeutic drugs or therapeutic genes into the functionalized micro-vacuoles doubly-modified by an electroporation mode, and carrying out re-suspension after separation with the magnet. The tumor-targeted delivery carrier based on cell-derived micro-vacuoles, the preparation method and the application disclosed by the invention are applicable to specific targeting delivery of multiple chemotherapeutic drugs and therapeutic genes, and have the advantages of enhancing the anti-tumor effect, reducing the systemic toxicity and improving the clinical effect of the current therapeutic selection, so that a new hope is brought for clinical therapy of tumors.

The present invention provides an antiobesity composition comprising extract of Melissa as an active ingredient, use of Melissa extract, and a method for suppressing obesity using the composition. Also, the present invention provides an antiobesity composition comprising extract of Melissa and extract of Mori Folium as active ingredients, use of a mixture of Melissa extract and Mori Folium extract, and a method for suppressing obesity using the composition. Further, the present invention provides an antiobesity composition comprising extract of Melissa, extract of Artemisia and extract of Mori Folium as active ingredients, use of a mixture of Melissa extract, Artemisia extract and Mori Folium extract, and a method for suppressing obesity using the composition. When the present compositions are administrated into genetically obese mice or high fat diet-induced obese mice, the present compositions reduced body weight, body fat and gonadal fat, and reduce blood cholesterol level and obesity-related blood glucose level. Also, the present compositions suppress hypertrophy of adipocytes, and inhibit the accumulation of lipid in the liver by reducing the size and number of lipid vacuoles. Furthermore, in human clinial trial the present compositions show that body weight, PIBW, body fat, especially visceral fat, apolipoprotin B concentration, ratio of total cholesterol/HDL cholesterol and ratio of LDL cholesterol/HDL cholesterol are significantly decreased, and atherogenic index is improved and muscle mass is increased. Thus, the present compositions can be usefully applied as antiobesity composition for reduction of body weight and suppression of abdominal fat, particularly, visceral fat.
