The invention discloses a magnesium alloy surface treatment method. The method comprises the following steps of S1, carrying out magnesium alloy surface pretreatment to obtain a clean and rough magnesium alloy surface; S2, carrying out activating treatment, specifically, placing an magnesium alloy in an activating solution containing activating particles to be activated; and S3, carrying out electro-oxidation passivation, specifically, placing the magnesium alloy into an electro-oxidation solution, and forming a passivation film on the magnesium alloy surface through a constant-pressure oxidation control method. After the magnesium alloy surface is activated, electro-oxidation passivation is carried out on the active magnesium alloy surface in an electrolysis manner, so that metal particles with chemical deposition activity can be firmly embedded into the passivation film. A process of firstly activating, then carrying out electrooxidation to form a layer of electro-oxidation passivation film with activity and finally carrying out chemical nickel plating is adopted, so that the difficulty in plating the magnesium alloy due to direct corrosion of the plating solution to a magnesiumalloy substrate is overcome. The magnesium alloy surface treatment method is suitable for all magnesium alloy substrate materials, and particularly has a better effect on chemical nickel plating of high-activity rare earth magnesium alloy and magnesium-lithium alloy substrates.
