The obtained extract mainly contains flavonoid and triterpene compounds. Tests prove that the extract has obvious therapeutical effects on primary and secondary inflammatory reaction of AA rats and has good effects in the aspects of inflammation resistance, detumescence and relief of arthritis injuries of AA rats. Thus, the extract can be applied to the preparation of medicines for rheumatoid arthritis.

The detection method is accurate and has high sensitivity, is good in repeatability and has reliable results, supplies evidence for medicinal quality control and evaluation for periploca forrestii and lays the foundation for determination of an optimum locality. The method can be used for determining an appropriate production region for the medicine during production and guiding harvesting of the medicine.
