The preparation method provided by the invention comprises the steps: subjecting a mercapto compound to a reaction with polyol at the temperature of160 DEG C to 200 DEG C, then, introducing inert gas, and carrying out heat preservation for 1 to 2 hours at the temperature of 150 DEG C to 160 DEG C, so as to obtain a chain extender; mixing the chain extender and epoxy resin at the temperature of 100 DEG C to 110 DEG C, then, adding a tertiary amine catalyst, carrying out heat preservation for 0.5 to 1 hour at the temperature of 130 DEG C to 140DEG C, and then, carrying out heat preservation for 1 to 2 hours at the temperature of 90 DEG C to 100 DEG C, so as to obtain modified resin; mixing the modified resin and an alcohol ether solvent, then, adding organic amine, carrying out heat preservation for 2 to 4 hours at the temperature of 100 DEG C to 120 DEG C, then, adding a cross-linker, carrying out mixing for 1 to 2 hours at the temperature of 70 DEG C to 110 DEG C, then, adding acid, carrying out mixing for 1 to 2 hours at the temperature of 80 DEG C to 90 DEG C so as to obtain a product A, and uniformly mixing the product A withwater, thereby obtaining the latex. By the latex obtained by the method, the throwing power of the cathodic electrophoresis coating material can be obviously improved.
