This invention provides a non-contact, adjustable alternating
magnetic field-
eddy current coupled
laser shock strengthening device and method for improving
hydrogen embrittlement resistance. The device includes a
laser shock strengthening unit, a
magnetic field generating unit, a driving unit, and a position adjustment unit. The
magnetic field generating unit has alternating N and S pole permanent magnets, which are driven to rotate by the driving unit. This induces an alternating magnetic field and closed eddy currents within the
metal workpiece. The magnetic
field strength,
eddy current density, and temperature rise are synergistically controlled by adjusting the air gap and rotation speed. This invention couples a multi-directional alternating
electromagnetic field during
laser shock, promoting the activation of multiple slip systems and
dislocation dispinning, improving the surface
microstructure uniformity and
residual compressive stress distribution, effectively inhibiting
hydrogen intrusion and enrichment, delaying the
initiation and propagation of
hydrogen-induced cracks, and improving the workpiece's resistance to
hydrogen embrittlement. The device has no contact electrodes and is suitable for complex curved surfaces and large-area workpieces.
