The invention relates to a disc type reactor-based static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) and a control method. The STATCOM comprises a
signal acquisition and
processing module, a master control module, a driving module, a power conversion module, a novel disc type reactor module and the like, wherein the
signal acquisition and
processing module is used for acquiring the
voltage and current information of a three-phase
power grid and the
alternating current side output current and
direct current side
voltage information of the STATCOM in real time, and
processing the acquired information; the master control module performs coordinate transformation and operation on the acquired information to obtain a required
carrier phase shifted sinusoidal pulse-width modulation (CPS-SPWM)
signal; the driving module generates a triggering pulse; and the power conversion module consists of three full-bridge linked strings. A disc type reactor is used, has the
advantage of greatly reducing a size, a weight and electromagnetic
pollution compared with a hollow reactor, and has the advantages of greatly reducing vibration and
noise and remarkably improving the
linearity of an
inductor L compared with the conventional open core reactor. Reactive current in a power
system can be dynamically compensated,
harmonic waves can be suppressed, and the
power quality and
voltage stability of the power
system can be effectively improved.
