Method for preparing silk sericin-PVA scaffold using genipin as crosslinking agent

A method for preparing a porous-three-dimensional scaffold good for tissue engineering is described. Sericin forms a three-dimensional scaffold with PVA after freeze-drying having glycerin as a plasticizer and genipin as natural crosslinking agent to help making a strong and stable matrix. Adding glycerin into scaffold gives good uniformity and porosity. Smaller pore sizes and better uniformity are obtained as the concentration of genipin in the scaffold increases. Glycerin retains a high moisture content to allow the presence of water molecule in the matrix structure. Adding genipin results in a higher degree of crosslinking within the scaffold. Crosslinking using genipin is most beneficial in preparing scaffold possesses the best biological and physical properties for wound healing. The present invention describes method for preparing crosslinked matrix whose composition can be appropriately tuned to obtain matrix with desirable characteristics for biological applications.

Sericin post-finishing method for cotton fabrics

The invention discloses a sericin post-finishing method for cotton fabrics, which comprises the following steps: (a) configuring settling impregnation liquid: dissolving 3-5% of dissolvable sericin powder counted by mass in hot water, and then adding 1-3% of chitosan quaternary ammonium salt, fully stirring and dissolving, and adding 4-6% of cross-linking agent, and (b) completely steeping the cotton fabrics in the settling impregnation liquid at a solution bath ratio of 1:(30-50), steeping for at least 20 minutes, twice steeping and twice rolling, keeping mangle expression more than 80%, anddrying, thereby obtaining the cotton fabrics. The invention develops the post-finishing method special for the cotton fabrics. The cotton fabrics prepared according to the post-finishing method have better washing fastness and anti-bacteria rate; after the cotton fabrics are washed for five times, a dissolving loss rate is about 0.21% and the anti-bacteria rate is 93.8%; the practical use requirement is fully met; and an extraordinary technical effect is obtained.

A method for preparing a sericin hydrogel, the method including: 1) weighing a cocoon of a fibroin-deficient mutant silkworm, Bombyx mori, extracting the cocoon by an aqueous solution of LiBr or LiCl, dialyzing an extracted solution to yield a sericin solution having a concentration of a non-degraded sericin of between 0.1 and 4 wt. %; and 2) concentrating the sericin solution to a concentration of between 1.5 and 10 wt. %, adding a crosslinking agent to the concentrated sericin solution at a ratio of between 2 and 500 μL of the crosslinking agent per each milliliter of the sericin solution, fully blending the crosslinking agent with the concentrated sericin solution, and keeping a resulting mixture at the temperature of between 4 and 45° C. for between 5 s and 36 hrs to yield a hydrogel.

The prepared sericin-polyvinyl alcohol blended antibacterial film loaded with the nano-silver has good mechanical performance, water absorption performance and antibacterial performance, and is hopeful to be applied to the field of biomedical materials.
