A process for the production of fluorine-containing compounds through liquid-phase fluorination by introducing both a starting compound and fluorine gas into a solvent to replace hydrogen of the starting compound by fluorine, more specifically, a process for the production of fluorine-containing compounds, characterized by (1) introducing a starting compound in a state dissolved in anhydrous hydrofluoric acid into a liquid-phase fluorination solvent to promote the fluorination of the starting compound or (2) introducing a starting compound in a state dissolved in a perfluoro-compound having plural polar groups in the molecule into a liquid-phase fluorination solvent to promote the fluorination thereof. These processes permit use of hydrocarbons themselves as the starting material and can give fluorine-containing compounds which are little contaminated with isomers in high yield.
