The invention discloses a preparation method of novel flame-retardant polypropylene, which comprises following steps: (1) feeding magnesium hydroxide, decabromo diphenylethane, a toughening agent and zinc borate into a high-speed mixing machine and performing heat-stirring mixing, when the temperature of the mixed material is increased to 100 DEG C, spraying a liquid coupling agent, which is diluted by an inert solvent, into the mixed material being high-speed stirred in a spraying method, discharging the material when the temperature is increased to 120-125 DEG C; and (2) feeding polypropylene powder, chlorinated polyethylene, a composite anti-oxidant, a stabilizing agent, polyethylene wax and the composite flame retardant prepared in the step (1) into the high-speed mixing machine to mix the components, feeding the mixed components in a hopper of a double-screw mixing extruder for mix-extrusion, drawing a semi-product bar, water-cooling the semi-product bar, cutting the semi-product bar into granules, drying the granules and moulding the novel flame-retardant polypropylene. In the invention, the decabromo diphenylethane and the magnesium hydroxide are compounded to obtain the composite flame retardant, so that the use amount of the decabromo diphenylethane is reduced. The novel flame-retardant polypropylene is low in smoke, halogen, toxin, density and cost without antimonous oxide. The novel flame-retardant polypropylene is good in mechanical performance.
