The method includes: transferring each of multiple fruit flies to be tested into each well of a feeding plate in a high-throughput fruit fly feeding platform; adding a liquid food with a predetermined chemical composition to each well of the food substrate of the high-throughput fruit fly feeding platform; allowing the multiple fruit flies to feed freely for a predetermined time; measuring the protein content in the remaining liquid food after free feeding to obtain the remaining protein content in each well; and obtaining the feed intake of each fruit fly based on the remaining protein content in each well. By combining a high-throughput fruit fly feeding platform with protein concentration measurement, changes in the protein content of the liquid food are tracked to estimate changes in liquid volume, thereby improving the efficiency and accuracy of fruit fly feed intake measurement while simultaneously achieving high-throughput measurement.
