The invention provides application of a substance in preparation of a product for treating chronic atrophic gastritis, protecting gastric mucosa, treating lesion before gastric cancer, blocking gastric cancer conversion and preventing gastric cancer. The product is one of drugs, healthcare products and food and is selected from nuciferine, a derivate of nuciferine, a lotus leaf extract as well asa mixture of at least two of the substances. The application comprises at least one of treating chronic atrophic gastritis, protecting gastric mucosa, treating lesion before gastric cancer, blocking gastric cancer conversion and preventing gastric cancer. In-vitro experiments indicate that nuciferine can block gastritis cancer conversion cell proliferation. In-vivo experiments indicate that the nuciferine and the lotus leaf extract can treat rat atrophic gastritis (particularly chronic atrophic gastritis accompanied with intestinal metaplasia or dysplasia), protecting rats from gastric mucosallesion and inhibiting abnormal proliferation of stem cells of gastrointestinal tracts of fruit flies. Clinic tests prove that the lotus leaf extract can improve symptoms and indexes of atrophic gastritis or lesion before gastric cancer.
