The modified chitosan coating exhibits enhanced adhesion and hydrophobicity to hydrophobic fruit surfaces, improves wettability, reduces swelling under high humidity, enhances gas barrier properties, displays significant antioxidant activity, reduces enzymatic browning and scavenges free radicals, exhibits anti-adhesion against fungi and bacteria, and possesses excellent biocompatibility. It provides a promising, safe, and sustainable solution for extending the shelf life and quality of fresh agricultural products.
