PTFE resin composition

A PTFE resin composition comprising polytetrafluoroethylene or modified polytetrafluoroethylene in an amount between 70 and 90 wt.%, inclusive, and curved carbon fiber in an amount between 30 and 10 wt.%, inclusive. As a result of the addition of a prescribed amount of curved carbon fiber to PTFE or modified PTFE, this PTFE resin composition can be used effectively as a molding material that yields a water-pump lip-seal material that excels in terms of resistance to deformation, resistance to wear, and sealing performance with respect to cooling water. In particular, even if this PTFE resin composition is used in a seal for a cooling-water circulation pump in an automobile, shedding of the carbon fibers can be prevented effectively, even under the harsh conditions to which a cooling-water seal is subjected, and sufficient sealing performance is produced, with no cooling-water leakage or the like due to deformation or wear during use.
