A group of solid adsorbents in the form of powder, granules or pellets having improved adsorptive capacity and selectivity for ethylene and / or propylene is disclosed. These adsorbents comprise (a) a silver compound and (b) a bentonite clay support bulk of which comprises SiO2 and Al2O3 and the rest being oxides of Fe, Ca, Mg, Na and K and having sufficiently high surface area on which the silver compound is dispersed or impregnated. The support may be pretreated by polymer solutions to impart sufficient mechanical strength as measured by attrition loss. Mechanical strength may also be improved by pre-heating the support. These adsorbents are highly stable and are capable of reversibly adsorbing substantial quantity of ethylene and / or propylene at room temperature. The rates of adsorption of ethylene and / or propylene are also very high in these adsorbents, which is believed to be due to the synergistic interaction between the components of the novel composition of the present invention.

The present invention provides a regenerable catalyst composition suitable for entrapping SOx. The composition of the invention comprises a copper oxide having the formula (Cu / (A oxide) where A oxide is SiO2, Zr—SiO2, A12O3, TiO2—Al2O3, ZrO2 and In2O3 or mixtures thereof. Copper loading may vary from about 10 to 60 mol % and is preferably about 25 mol %. The catalyst composition adsorbs SOx as metal sulfate under lean conditions and desorbs accumulated SOx as SO2 under rich conditions. Such reversible SOx trap are able to operate under conventional NOx trap operating conditions to prevent sulfur poisoning of the NOx trap. Furthermore, these traps may be regenerated under rich conditions at 300-450° C. In another embodiment of the present invention, an irreversible SOx trap capable of collecting SOx under lean conditions is provided. The traps of this embodiment include praseodymia, zirconia-praseodymia and mixed manganese-yttria and mixtures thereof.

By means of preparation by ammonia fumigating reaction, the nano Fe3O4 is obtained by aggregating nanoparticles with the particle size of 3-7nm to Fe3O4 nanoclusters with the particle size of 30-70nm, and the Fe3O4 nanoclusters are uniformly dispersed in a chitosan matrix. The magnetic chitosan / nano Fe3O4 composite has the advantages of large specific surface area, capability of being used for wastewater and waste gas treatment, rapidness in adsorption, high adsorption rate and capabilities of being isolated by the aid of a simple and convenient magnetic process and an adsorption system and being used as contrast agents.

Miniaturized multi-gas and vapor sensor devices and associated methods of fabrication

The invention provides a miniaturized sensor device including a thin film membrane having a first surface and a second surface, one or more resistive thin film heater / thermometer devices disposed directly or indirectly adjacent to the first surface of the thin film membrane, and a frame disposed directly or indirectly adjacent to the second surface of the thin film membrane, wherein one or more internal surfaces of the frame define at least one cell having at least one opening. The sensor device also includes a thin film layer disposed directly or indirectly adjacent to the frame. The sensor device further includes a sensing layer disposed directly or indirectly adjacent to the thin film membrane.
