Dihydrocapsaicin is a capsaicinoid and analog and congener of capsaicin in chili peppers (Capsicum). Like capsaicin, it is an irritant. Dihydrocapsaicin accounts for about 22% of the total capsaicinoid mixture and has the same pungency as capsaicin. Pure dihydrocapsaicin is a lipophilic colorless odorless crystalline to waxy compound. It is soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide and 100% ethanol.
Pepper caerf13 gene and application of the encoded protein in regulating capsaicin synthesis
The application belongs to the technical field of plant genetic engineering, and discloses a kind of pepper CaERF13 gene and its coding protein in the application of capsaicin synthesis regulation, the nucleotide sequence of the pepper CaERF13 gene is as shown in SEQ ID NO:1, the amino acid sequence of its coding protein is as shown in SEQ ID NO:2.The application identifies and verifies the specific positive regulation function of CaERF13 gene in capsaicin biosynthesis for the first time.It is directly proved by virus-induced gene silencing technology that down-regulation of the expression of CaERF13 can lead to a significant decrease in the accumulation of capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin in the placenta of pepper fruits, and the expression level of multiple capsaicin synthesis pathway genes is down-regulated.
