Application of blueberry VcERF70 gene in improving plant cadmium tolerance

This invention discloses the application of the blueberry VcERF70 gene in improving cadmium tolerance in plants, belonging to the field of plant genetic engineering technology. The amino acid sequence of the VcERF70 protein is shown in SEQ ID NO.2, and the nucleotide sequence of its encoding gene is shown in SEQ ID NO.1. This invention constructs a plant overexpression vector containing the VcERF70 gene and genetically transforms it into blueberries. The resulting transgenic plants exhibit significantly reduced malondialdehyde and hydrogen peroxide content under cadmium stress, and significantly increased superoxide dismutase, catalase, peroxidase activities, and glutathione content. Experiments demonstrate that overexpression of the VcERF70 gene can effectively enhance the antioxidant defense capacity of blueberries, reduce cadmium stress-induced oxidative damage, and thus improve the blueberry's tolerance to cadmium. This invention provides a new gene resource and technical pathway for blueberry stress-resistant breeding.
