In one aspect, the working chamber firing that are selected to deliver the desired engine output are determined at least in part based on torque feedback. The torque feedback may be an indication of the torque output of the engine or the torque experienced at some other location in the drive train. In some embodiments, the torque feedback signal is filtered to remove high frequency components of the torque feedback signal in order to help stabilize the system. In another aspect, other operational parameters are used as feedback in the determination of the firing sequence. In yet another aspect, a filter is arranged to filter a feedback signal to provide a filtered feedback signal that is used in the determination of the working chamber firings.

A control system for a power generation apparatus and method may fly a rotorcraft rotary wing at an altitude above the nap of the earth. A tether, suitably strong and flexible, connected to the rotorcraft framing is pulled with a force generated by the rotary wing. The force is transmitted to a ground station that converts the comparatively linear motion of the tether being pulled upward with a lifting force. The linear motion may be transferred to a rotary motion in the ground station to rotate and electrical generator. The tether may be retrieved and re-coiled by controlling the rotorcraft aircraft to basically fly down at a speed and lift force to support recovery of the rotorcraft at a substantially reduced force compared to the larger lifting force in effect during the power-developing payout of the tether. Moreover, the duty cycle of such a system is substantially increased over any terrestrially based or tower-mounted wind turbine mechanisms.

A continuous Liquid-Solids Circulating Fluidized Bed (LSCFB) preferably for use as an ion exchanger consists of two fluidized bed columns, a fluidized bed adsorber (downer) operating in conventional fluidized bed mode for adsorption of ions of interest and a fluidized bed riser for desorption of ions (operating as a riser fluidized bed) to provide regenerated particles. Ion exchange particles circulate continuously between the riser and the downer i.e. the particles that have adsorbed ions in the absorber pass from the adsorber (downer) to the desorber where they are regenerated and the so regenerated particles are return to the adsorber near the top of the adsorber column. The LSCFB can be used in processes for continuous recovery of the ions of interest.

The organic exhaust gas micro-emulsion absorption liquid is suitable to be used for controlling exhaust gas containing benzene-series volatiles, and has the advantages of convenient raw material source, low cost, mild and stable property, low toxicity, environment-friendliness, no absorption tower corrosion or blocking phenomena, no severe influence to human health, high removal rate to organic exhaust gas, no need of pretreatment upon exhaust gas, and low investment and running cost. Saturated absorption liquid and absorbed organics can be recycled, such that waste can be turned useful.

An algorithm of the method finds the best trade-offs between overhead reduction (e.g., due to contention and to packet headers) and a solution robust to channel errors, if links are noisy. If several stable solutions corresponding to different options exist, additional criteria (e.g., the least number of hops, the highest transmission rate) may be used to determine the final “best” solution.
