The fluorinated modified sulfonated polyarylether is prepared by drying sulfonated polyarylether and then performing reactions between the sulfonated polyarylether and mixed gas of fluorine gas / nitrogen gas at a temperature of lower than 100 DEG C; and in the application of preparing the proton exchange membrane, the sulfonated polyarylether can be ground into powder and prepared into a thin membrane after fluorinated modification, and then the thin membrane is subjected to acidizing, or the sulfonated polyarylether is prepared into the thin membrane, and then the thin membrane is subjected to acidizing after the fluorinated modification.
