This invention has found that *Lactobacillus plantarum* and sodium butyrate have a significant synergistic antibacterial effect, effectively inhibiting the proliferation of pathogenic *Escherichia coli* and *Salmonella*. In vivo experiments have confirmed that the multilayer microsphere can effectively restore the body weight of diarrhea-prone animals, repair pathological damage to the jejunum and colon, and alleviate intestinal inflammation at the molecular level by inhibiting the activation of NF-κB and MAPK inflammatory pathways, downregulating the expression of pro-inflammatory factors IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α, and upregulating the level of the anti-inflammatory factor IL-10. The multilayer microsphere provided by this invention can serve as a novel, green, and safe formulation suitable for the prevention and control of bacterial diarrhea in livestock and poultry farming.
