This invention discloses a rice-wheat rotation farmland
ecosystem based on an
intercropping natural enemy conservation zone of
Angelica sinensis and
Osmanthus fragrans, and a cross-seasonal
pest control method. The method involves planting
Osmanthus fragrans trees at 3-5 meter intervals along field ridges, with
Angelica sinensis interspersed among them, thus constructing a perennial natural enemy conservation zone. During the flowering periods of
Angelica sinensis (May-June) and
Osmanthus fragrans (September-October), volatile compounds are released, providing
nectar and
pollen to attract
natural enemies such as ladybugs, lacewings, hoverflies, and parasitic wasps to colonize and proliferate. These natural enemy populations naturally migrate into the farmland during the wheat and rice seasons to control pests such as wheat aphids, rice planthoppers, and rice stem borers, with significant control effects and reducing
pesticide application by 1-2 times. This perennial
system is easy to manage and can generate
economic benefits from the harvest of Angelica sinensis and
Osmanthus fragrans, providing a technical approach for green
agriculture in rice-wheat rotation areas.
